Place the downloaded XML file (it will be in a zip) in the \Program Files\clrmamepro\headers\ folder. That is a huge difference, and it helps to start with a smaller subset, since we are not interested in hacked versions of games.ĭownload the romset for the system you are interested inĭownload the 'P/Clone XML' (aka 'Parent-Clone XML') file for your intended system from No-Into's Datomatic site by clicking on 'P/Clone XML' and selecting the intended system from the drop-down at the top of the page (this file will tell ClrMamePro what games are available for the system, and which files are clones of that game)ĭownload the Header File from the no-intro site by clicking on 'Dataset' and seeing if there is an asterisks next to the system name, if there is, click the download link to the left to get the header fileĢ YEARS LATER EDIT: Make sure you are using the XML header that is on the datomatic site by clicking the YELLOW ASTERISK that is to the right of the system you want. What you will see, for instance, is that GOODSET has 8,900 roms for NES, while No-Intro will have 2,800 roms for NES. If you are interested in pure archival of everything that is out there, use GOODSET.

No-Intro romsets do not have Hack versions of the game (which GOODSET versions do have). I will be blunt here and say that No-Intro datasets are probably the BEST romset you will find if you are interested in trimming your roms. If you've been doing emulation for years, you've probably seen a number of romsets out there, including GOODSET, only sets, No-Intro, etc. I know it is a question that comes up frequently, so I thought I would share what I have found to be a good approach.
